The Process

Pets by Liz begin with her taking photographs of your pet, usually at your home or yard, in the familiar surroundings of your pet.  However, she can work from a submitted photo of high quality.

The photographs are used as reference to create a custom mixed media work of art.  New backgrounds are painted for distinction and impact. Sometimes a portion of one's home or yard, garden or other favorite location are incorporated into the art.

Using professional media software with a tablet and stylus, each stroke is painted by hand with her own brushes. A few different backgrounds are submitted as proofs for your final choice, sent via email.

Finally, the image is transferred to canvas, via Giclee printing.  Giclee pronounced "jee-clay" is used by major art museums for archiving entire collections.  The process involves spraying microscopic dots of ink onto fine quality art canvas. The combination of archival inks and fine artist canvas yield stunning light fast vibrancy and longevity of approximately 100 years.  Often, actual paint is applied to surface for extra detail.

Frames

The canvassed art is stretched to wrap around edges, so no frame is needed.  If you like the appearance of an actual frame, specify when proof is confirmed,  as the canvas will need to be ordered in a lower dimension in order to fit in a frame you would select from your store of choice.
